Dear Parents,

It’s time to get ready for another great year! We are excited to introduce our new Family Night, which includes Dinner for all, Awana and Youth Group for the kids and a Marriage Study (Fall) and Financial Peace University (Spring) for the adults. Our first Family Night is on Wednesday, September 11, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Awana and Youth Group Registration will begin at 5:15 p.m. (or you can register online at our website). All events will occur at Wye Bible Church (WBC).

Family Dinners:

Once again, we will offer Family Dinners. Through December, we plan to have them every time we meet for Awana/Youth Group/Marriage Study. The dinners are for everyone, whether your children attend Awana/Youth Group or you join us for the Marriage Study/Financial Peace University. At least one parent is required to stay with children 13 years old or younger. The Dinners are free (donations accepted). Please join us starting at 5:30 p.m. Dinners will end promptly at 6:15 so Awana groups can begin their meetings. While RSVPs are not required, they will help ensure we have enough food for everyone. Email Laura at wbc.office@wyebiblechurch.com to let us know you are coming for dinner.

Awana:

Our club is one of the thousands of Awana Clubs in churches worldwide. The International Headquarters is in Streamwood, Illinois. These church-based, community programs are open to all children regardless of faith or home church. Each club meeting consists of three parts: games, achievements and Bible time. The club groups are:

Cubbies:  Three & four-year-olds

Sparks:    Kindergarten – 2nd graders

T&T:         3rd – 6th graders

While the church supplies our facilities and equipment, we ask that each clubber pay dues to help defray the cost of special supplies, treats and handbooks. The dues for the 2024 – 2025 year are:

One child—$35.00

Two children—$50.00

Three or more—$65.00 (cap)

Vests are required for Cubbies [Ages 3-4 Sizes S(4)-2XL(10) – $16] and Sparks [Grade K-2 Sizes S(6)-3XL(16) – $16]. Optional book bags for each group are available for $8 each. Vests and book bags can be ordered and paid for online or contact Laura.

Please register your children online via our website and pay the dues within thirty days of the start of the club. They can be paid by check, cash or online via PayPal. Scholarships for Awana dues and vests are available. Please speak with the Awana secretary (Laura) for more information.

Youth Group:

Our Youth Group meets on Wednesdays at the same time as Awana and is for 7th – 12th grades. We invite attendees to join us for our Family Dinners. Youth Group parents are welcome but not required to stay for Family Dinners. Please register your Youth online via our website. There is no cost for the Youth Group.

Marriage Study (Fall)/Financial Peace University (Spring):

While the kids are in Awana/Youth Group, Pastor Jim will teach a Marriage Study in the Fall, and Financial Peace University will be offered in the Spring. You do not have to have children in Awana or Youth Group to attend either study. Contact Pastor Jim and tell him you are coming or just show up on Wednesday.

Calendar:

We will meet on select Wednesdays starting September 11. Please see the Family Night calendar on our website. We follow the Queen Anne’s County Public Schools Calendar and Inclement Weather Policy. If schools have a half-day, are scheduled to be closed or close early/all day due to weather conditions, there is no Family Night that evening.

Sick Child Policy:

We want to provide a healthy and safe environment for all children. Please be considerate of other children when deciding whether to allow your child(ren) to participate in Family Night when they are displaying symptoms of contagious illnesses (including a runny nose). Children observed to be ill will be separated from the other children, and we will contact the parent/guardian to pick up their child(ren). Additionally, children must be fever and vomit-free without medication for 24 hours before returning to any WBC activities.

In closing, if you currently do not have a church home, we invite you to visit our church. During the school year, Sunday School meets at 9:00 a.m. with classes for all ages and the Worship Service meets at 10:30 a.m. For more information, don’t hesitate to contact the Wye Bible Church office at 410.827.6650. We invite you to come as a visitor and leave as a friend.
